n October of 2016, The Food Network had a full spread article on the top places to visit when driving through Vermont! Route 100 has some incredibly famous VT must-stops like the Ben & Jerry's Factory, a cheese factory built by Calvin Coolidge's father, and the HUGE Vermont Country Store. But before you get to Weston for the Country Store, your very own Squeels on Wheels BBQ is the place to stop in Ludlow!
Small-Town Charm on Big Time Route 100
In the article, "Local Color," Food Network Magazine opens up this full spread feature by saying "There's no better place to see fall foliage than New England: Here are three perfect routes for leaf-peeping... and eating along the way."
It's true that Vermont has some great spots for enjoying the beautiful autumn views but you can't pass through Vermont without dipping into the maple syrup, cheese and SMOKED MEAT!
We were honored to be a part of this article, nestled in between such notable landmarks like The Vermont Country Store and Plymouth Artisan Cheese. This was when we had a physical location along Route 100 that snow bunnies and leaf-peepers alike could stop and refuel with fall-of-the-bone ribs or melt-in-your-mouth brisket.
Ludlow Country Store
In 2016 when this article was written, we owned the Ludlow Country Store where we sold our Award-Winning BBQ at the deli and handmade goodies, Vermont specialty items, and bottled signature items at the store. We bought the store in 2010, the same year that we started bottling our Signature BBQ Sauce and Kickin' Chicken Dust. 2 Years later in 2012, we were up on Okemo Mountain and busier than ever! We sold the store in 2020 to operate fully as a catering & concessionaire business.
We are so thankful so have been a part of an article that truly makes Vermont shine as more than a ski destination, but a picturesque autumn tour filled with notable landmarks and small-town charm.
